But how many do we notice?<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The truth is: <span class=\"s1\"><b>emotions shape our thoughts, behaviors, decisions, and relationships<\/b><\/span>. Yet, we often move through life unaware of how they steer us. Emotional Intelligence (EI) helps us bring light to those unseen forces and use them to create a more balanced, connected, and fulfilling life.<br \/><b><\/b><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><b>What is Emotional Intelligence?<\/b><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"p3\"><br \/>At its heart, Emotional Intelligence is the ability to:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">\u2022Recognize and understand emotions in ourselves and others<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\">\u2022Use that awareness to manage our behavior, choices, and relationships<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">There are five key components that define emotional intelligence. Let\u2019s explore how you can begin practicing each of them\u2014starting today.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>1. Self-Awareness<\/b><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Knowing what you\u2019re feeling, and why, is the first step.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Years ago, I was introduced to a powerful emotional vocabulary: joy, gratitude, hope, inspiration, awe, love. Understanding these feelings\u2014and learning to pause and name them\u2014was a game-changer. When I felt a strong emotion, I practiced taking a mindful pause and asked myself, \u201cWhat am I feeling right now?\u201d Naming it\u2014whether it was stress, joy, or overwhelm\u2014gave me a sense of clarity and control. That one small shift helped me respond with intention, instead of reacting on autopilot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Take a breath. Ask yourself: How am I feeling right now?<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>2. Self-Management<\/b><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">This is about regulating your responses\u2014not ignoring emotions, but not letting them control you either.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">A simple breathing practice helps:<br \/><b>Rest. Self-Motivation<\/b><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Self-motivation isn\u2019t about hype\u2014it\u2019s about vision.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">It\u2019s the quiet confidence to say: <i>\u201cI can do this.\u201d<br \/><\/i><i><\/i>Even when you don\u2019t feel ready. Especially then.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">For me, it started with one simple choice: joining a 5AM running club to reclaim my health. One mile, one meal, one decision at a time\u2014I lost 20 pounds and gained a mindset that rippled into every other part of my life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Use affirmations. Visualize success. Get into the flow\u2014those moments when you\u2019re fully immersed in something you love. These create momentum.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>4. Social Awareness<\/b><b><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Empathy is a secret power.
